20: LARGE AUSTRIAN ART DECO NAVETTE FORM CENTERPIECE

A dramatic Art Deco centerpiece of navette form with openwork design of high angular handles at each end contrasted with laurel foliate openwork, Secessionist influences of alternating wave motif panels along the body and a large central buttressed medallion midway along each side; a
shaped elliptical glass insert with cut designs. Unsigned, an embossed number 365 under side of the base. This centerpiece is a design hybrid that displays elements of design from the Secessionist movement which preceded and influenced the Art Deco style. Measures 8.5 x 23 x 8 inches.
Very good original condition noting a flake from the top end edge of the glass insert. No other damage, repair, restoration or silver wear. Two chips to one top end of glass insert, metal frame in excellent condition.
