94: AN 1897 BRITISH IMPORT STERLING SILVER SNUFF BOX

A Continental Silver Snuff Box, rectangular form with hinged domed lid featuring repoussé design of three figures, one male flanked by two females, within a landscape scene encompassed by C-scrolls, foliate and beading, stippled banded base of scrolling acanthus, flowers and rocaille, the interior with gilt wash. Stamped British import hallmarks on the cover including lion passant and date mark of 1897 with capital 'F', the base stamped with a Continental hallmark. Measures 1.5 x 3 x 2 inches, weighs 3 troy oz.
