267: ELSIE LEITCH BOWMAN (1872 - 1949) WATERCOLOR

A watercolor portrait circa 1925, signed lower right, a sensitive image of a young lady in shear black lace shawl draped over a yellow dress, her pose and expression of pensive mood skillfully conveyed by the artist. Measures 36.5 x 25 inches, 38.5 x 27 inches overall. Susan Craig reports that Elsie Bowman graduated from the Chicago Art Institute in 1903 and taught art at Pittsburg State University.
Not examined outside of frame, appears excellent. Chips and repairs to frame edges and corners.
