295: AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY TEA CADDY WITH SHELL INLAYS

A rosewood tea caddy, the top inlaid with intricate mother-of-pearl detail, the top being a raised panel bordered in egg-and-dart carved trim, mansard sides with canted edge, the semi-pyramidal base further inlaid and bordered in egg-and-dart trim, raised on four button feet. Measures 19 x 11.5 inches.
Missing the inlay around lock opening (escutcheon), 30 percent loss of shell inlays, minor soiling and smudges, minor bumps and split. There is no glass container inside.
