VERY RARE JACKSON LEE NESBITT COPPER ETCHING PLATES

28: VERY RARE JACKSON LEE NESBITT COPPER ETCHING PLATES

Jackson Lee Nesbitt (1913 - 2008)
Open Hearth Reflections (1937)
Two states of a Sheffield Steel series composition etched on copper in reverse for use in producing an etching of some type, obviously an etching signed in the plate, possibly something akin to the 'Talio-Chrome' images distributed by the Sheffield Steel Corporation with the description, 'Reproduced From the Original Etching' or 'Reproduced in Talio-Chrome.' Each copper plate is 'signed' and titled below the image with a date of '37 and mounted in a simple walnut bookend of the type made by an amateur woodworker.

A nearly identical Nesbitt image with the title 'Open Hearth Men', of which only a few etchings were pulled in 1937, is known, and may have served as the personal Christmas card design of Sheffield Steel's president.
Each measures 7 x 5.5 x 4 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair.
