21: CHARLES BANKS WILSON (1918-2013) WATERCOLOR ON PAPER

Charles Banks Wilson (1918-2013)
Untitled (Boys and Treehouse in Summer) (Late 20th Century.)
The original watercolor signed lower right depicts a joyous summer scene complete with three boys, a gunny sack swing that'll reach the roof of the shed, a dog and a towering Catalpa tree harboring a club house that flies a red flag. The boys' clothing and bicycle suggest a time frame in the third quarter of the 20th century. It's easy to picture the outbuildings and the setting being somewhere in the mid-west. Banks Wilson was a very prolific artist throughout the last half of the 20th century and is most associated with Oklahoma and Arkansas. He is best known for his pencil signed lithographs. His watercolors and paintings are scarce and desirable.
Sight size measures 20.75 x 13.75 with a framed size of 29.25 x 22.25 inches.
Apparently the condition is very good, very clean, intact, no visible stain, damage, repair, punctures or tears. This work has not been examined outside the frame.
Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist by the current owner.
