283: A VERY LARGE OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE SALVER CIRCA 1830

The unusually large footed salver with scroll and shell applied rim and hand chased circular band of of 'C' scrolls, shells and flowers centered by a coat of arms with motto REGI PATRIAEQUE FIDELIS, no maker's marks.
Measures 2.5 x 22.5 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair, wear and the effects of age and use overall, slightly misshapen.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org).
