38: A 19TH C. RENAISSANCE REVIVAL GILT PIER MIRROR

A carved and gilt pier mirror, the arched finialed crest surmounted by a pediment centering acanthus over fruit, foliage and ribbons, above the arched rectangular plate flanked by stiles of stop-fluted pilasters. The rectangular marble-top with projecting square corners over a gilt plinth base with channeled frieze interrupted by stylized palmettes, centering a molded reserve of simulated strapwork designs flanked by caryatid engaged columns, supported on an egg-and-dart molded base. Measures 104 x 34 x 11.5 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Intact without major damage, repair or replacement, later gold re-paint, corner chip and gesso loss one side. Good overall, shows well.
