46: A FINE 19C SOLID CURLY MAPLE BOX. PLUS ANOTHER.

Two good 19th century examples:

1. A highly figured solid curly maple box with lapped corner construction, hand made sheet iron hinges, very old deteriorated paper with insect damage covering the interior, great patina. Very good condition with nice honey-colored patina, no damage, repair or heavy wear.

2. A sewing box veneered in bird's eye maple with ebonised bands and other inlays, the interior finished in button tucked satin. Considerable veneer splits and losses around the exterior.
Measures 2.5 x 5.75 x 4 and 3.25 x 7.5 x 5.5 inches.
