Three devices related to navigation:

1. A 19th century ebony octant with brass arm and inlaid scale graduated from -5 to 95 degrees missing inlay and a turned finial.

2. A circular brass pocket sextant with threaded cover that serves as a handle when in use is inlaid with a silver scale divided to half-degrees and silver vernier on geared index arm - both finely engraved by hand, along with a scale magnifier and sun filters. The maker's name Fraser & Son Bond St London is engraved by hand in script. Circa 1810.

3. A good mid 19th century artificial horizon table suitable for the sextant listed here. The circular beveled glass plane in heavy brass bezel with threaded levelers, nice patina.
Measures 17 x 14 to 1.5 x 3 inches.
Very good condition, noting losses from the octant. All mechanical parts move freely.
Provenance: The estate of a collector active in Historical Re-enactment, Surveying the Frontier, Scientific Instruments. Lewis and Clark.
