The collection as shown: 1. TWO HEADED AFRICAN MARIONETTE ATTR BAMBARA PEOPLE MALI - The carved wood figure with applied tin ornament is attributed to the African Bambara People of Mali. Measures 34.5 x 11 x 10 inches, not including the stand. Good condition as shown with wear and weathering form exposure and age. 2. A CARVED AFRICAN PUNU NOBILITY HEADDRESS WITH PELT - The Punu mask represent idealized female ancestors' faces. The white color on the mask is genderless, a symbol of peace, deities, spirit of the dead and the afterlife. It is the predominate color in funeral celebrations and memorials. The raised scarification mark on the forehead indicates perfect symmetry of the face. This type of mask with carved wooden horns after that of the Water Buffalo, and animal pelts, appears in masquerades during funeral celebrations and is referred to as Mukudj. Measures 19.75 x 12 x 12 inches. 3. AN AFRICAN BRASS AND WOOD RELIQUARY FIGURE ATTR KOTA - The abstract, human form reliquary guardian figure from the African Kota Mahongwe Tribe of Gabon carved from wood and completely clad in brass, the curved spade shape face having applied eyes and nose, the neck wrapped in wire, hammered brass over the base. Measures 17 x 7 inches. 4. A finely carved Kuba figural cup with bead necklace. 5. A carved wood kola nut caryatid bowl on stand altar piece with female devotee figures retaining red paint from the African Yoruba people of Nigeria. 6. Carved fertility figure with angular headdress retaining blue paint. 7. A pierce carved comb missing tine.
