AARON PYLE (1903-1972) EGG TEMPERA ON ARTIST'S BOARD

202: AARON PYLE (1903-1972) EGG TEMPERA ON ARTIST'S BOARD

Aaron Gunn Pyle (Nebraska, 1903-1972)
Line Storm (Circa 1969)
Signed lower right, titled verso.

The strength and charm of this composition with its handsome color palette are validated by the copy of a letter found on back:

'Dear Aaron - I am very much impressed by the last batch of pictures you have sent us. Some guys mature early and some guys mature late. I guess you are among the latter - but there is no question for us about the fact that you are becoming an artist of real stature. You will eventually become in Nebraska like Grant Wood in Iowa, John Curry in Kansas and me in Missouri. Maybe you will out distance us. You are becoming the best artist I have ever had the privilege of teaching. Keep it up and best luck to you. Regards to Jerry, who has her place in your development. Cordially, Tom. P.S. The picture of Jerry, I guess it's her, hanging up the laundry is a real hot shot. So is the Hunter and his dog - T.'
