Wynkin, Blynkin and Nod (1959)
Ceramic maquettes or studies, miniature models for the bronze sculpture group 'Wynkin, Blynkin and Nod' commissioned by architect Victor Gruen for the Glendale Shopping Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, 1960. Each figure is signed on the base and dated 1959, white crackle glaze, initialed CHM(?).
A similar but larger installation on The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri, 'The Court of the Penguins' was installed in 1979, one year after the artists' death. According to Wikipedia, the Country Club Plaza installation was inspired by and based upon figurines found in the artist's studio following his death.
Measure 6.5 to 8.25 inches tall.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear.
Provenance: Property consigned by a relative of the artist.
