2: MANNER OF SIR PETER LELY, THE DUCHESS OF ALBEMARLE

The three quarter length portrait of the Duchess of Albemarle in blue dress with lace bodice, flowing red sash and a basket in fruit within a landscape with sun on the horizon, 18th century or earlier, manner of Sir Peter Lely (British, 1618-1680).
The frame measures 58 x 48, the canvas is estimated to be 50 x 40 inches.
Good condition, noting the effects of age and restoration, relined in the 19th century, darkening of varnish, no damage or repair, noting the repair at her proper left shoulder as shown in the images under UV light, in-painted improvement of crazing throughout including the facial area, the early to mid 19th century frame with original gilded finish displays imperfections and losses as shown.
