103: 1ST LT BAKER 44TH INF GROUP W/BRONZE STAR, PURPLE HEART

Div., SSI; three place ribbon bars; Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal, engraved with country and date of wound; Good Conduct Medal; WWII Victory Medal; Staff Sgt. rank insignia ; Sharpshooter badge with Rifle and Grenade bars; Enlisted Infantry collar insignia ; Officer collar insignia ;; 2 Lt. Bar, three DI's.1st Lt. John A Baker, 44th Inf. and 103rd Inf. Divisions, European Theatre. John entered active duty on 24 March 1942. He achieved the enlisted rank of Staff Sgt. before being commissioned. He became a 1st Lt. before being discharged. He was wounded on 17 December 1944 during actions in France. His other awards consisted of an ETO Medal with two bronze stars, and others.
