118: A RARE C.W. PARKER GIRAFFE TARGET WITH KNOCKDOWN RIDER

Another curious Parker target design with male rider in top hat not on horse or bull, but on a giraffe. The rider's legs are integrally cast with the giraffe body depicted in fancy trappings, a spring-loaded hinge at the rider's waist returns the man to position after being struck, Signed 'Manufactured by CW Parker Abilene KAS' on reverse. Parker moved his operations to Leavenworth in 1910. Pictured on page 37 of Sellers' book (Figure 2.16) and illustrated in Parker's Catalog of Shooting Galleries, Model No. 6 on page 8 and Model No. 7 on page 23.
Displayed on custom iron stand.
Measures 13.5 x 14.5 inches, excluding stand.
A repair to the rider, otherwise very good original condition, there are no other issues of damage or repair.
