105: A C.W. PARKER ABILENE RABBIT SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET

The rare companion to Parker's running whippet also being offered in this auction (lot 104). The two would have been seen in tandem within a shooting gallery and in Parker's trade catalogs, the rabbit being chased by the whippet. The figure in full stride with concentric ring bullseye is made rarer by its surface in old park paint. Signed Man'df by CW Parker Abilene Kansas 10 in the casting back side, which dates this piece to before 1910. Parker moved operations to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1910. Pictured in many Parker advertisements and catalogs, including on page 12 of Parker's Catalog of Shooting Galleries, Gallery No. 20.

Pictured on page 32 (Figure 2.9) of Sellers' book.
Measures 8 x 21 inches, excluding stand.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair, great patina with old park paint rarely seen on C.W. Parker targets.
