129: AN EARLY 20TH C. ILLUMINATED SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET

The scarce example of which few authentic examples are known to exist, this target by Emil Hoffmann, Chicago, IL is illustrated in their catalogs circa 1912, the same year Pancho Villa escaped, just before he crossed into the US in January of 1913. One of only a few known to exist, this is another example of politically incorrect example seen in shooting gallery targets from the early 20th century. The Hoffmann catalog describes this as 'Mexican Head-Illuminated Eye Target', displayed on a custom iron stand.

Measures 21.5 x 16 inches, excluding stand.
Very good condition throughout, no damage or repair, interesting sombrero surface the resulting form decades of paint, shooting gallery pellets, exposure and oxidation, layers of good crusty paint elsewhere.
