The salt glazed 3 gallon storage jar with rolled collar over two incised lines above lug handles highlighted in blue slip and bands of freehand cobalt blue decoration above plumes of flourish over stenciled lettering of JOHN CLEGG, DEALER IN GEN'L. MERCHANDISE, ROUND BOTTOM OHIO, 1885, attributed to the maker Hamilton and Jones of Greensboro PA.
Measures 14 x 8.25 inches.
Has a chip to underneath side of the rim. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs.
Provenance: The estate of Glenda St. John.
