Le Tour du Monde ( Around The World ) (Circa 1890.)
The heretofore unseen composition of semi-nude maiden partially draped by a blanket with tassels and poms aboard a striding heron; she holds the reigns of her mount in one hand, a drum between her legs and a drum mallet in her upraised hand. Signed Villanis in the casting, founder's mark of BRONZE GARANTI AU TITRE L.V. DEPOSEE A 394, original rich brown patina with green verdigris highlights in the lower portions.
Measures 36 x 14 x 10 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear. The mallet in her upraised hand may be slightly bent.
