423: FRENCH NAPOLEON III POTTERY JARDINIERE IN METAL MOUNTS

The French art pottery body in sarcophagus form decorated in multiple techniques that include raised slip-trail outlines filled with colorful enamels of turquoise blue and black, a central armorial-like cartouche on each side flanked by six-petal reserves with crown (the hexafoil or six petal lily symbol for purity and relation to the Trinity), a curvilinear black on umber foliate background overall, elephant head handles in black glaze, ornate cast openwork ormolu mounts upon the top and mounted to the base, impressed Bordeaux on the underside of the base.
Measures 8 x 11 x 7 inches.
Very good condition, noting one minor edge flake covered by the removable metal mount, otherwise very good throughout, and with no other damage, repair or heavy wear.
