The Empire influence pillar and scroll case with heavily carved crest over an ogee frieze with outset corners above the case with carved half-columns on veneered scroll and acanthus carved scrolling block feet. The upper door with original reverse painted tablet opens to a hand painted replacement dial fronting a brass works time and strike movement marked S. THOMAS PLYMOUTH CONN USA, central alarm dial, lower door with the original eglomise tablet.
Measures 41 x 18 x 6 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear. The original reverse painted glasses do display light wear as shown, replacement dial, original door glass, running condition.
