673: A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH CLOCK AND INSTRUMENT STATION

The brass capstan base wrapped in twisted brass dock line along with other three-dimensional nautical themes such as a lifeboat davit, block-and-tackle, life preserver and fouled anchor; the light house form with central binnacle atop the brass cylinder above four port holes displaying two silvered clock dials having Roman numeral chapter ring, one aneroid barometer and one thermometer dial all topped by a four point arched brass canopy, all on circular slate base and with key-wind motor inside the capstan base that rotates the upper instrument tower.
Measures 20 x 9 inches.
Very good condition, noting that the clock movement in the upper portion is fully wound and not in running condition. The lower mechanism will, when wound gently and not particularly tight, drive the action of the upper half after a soft nudge. Cosmetically good, noting roughness around the lower opening to the winding mandrel, light oxidation and subtle scratches to the lacquered surface, minor roughness to the slate base bottom edge all the way around. No damage or repair. The keys are replacements.
