19: A LARGE MIDWESTERN DOUBLE HANDLED STONEWARE WATER JUG

The circa 1900 beehive-form stoneware jug with sloping shoulder topped by strap handles either side of the tooled cylindrical mouth, the nicely figured body with interesting speckled effect and central number 10 in blue stenciled slip on the side above the factory spigot opening, unsigned, salt glaze.
Measures 21 x 14 inches.
Very good condition, noting firing pits. A large chip at the base rim, plus a smaller hole in the base rim, and a base crack. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs.
