FRANK HOFFMAN (1888-1958) OIL ON CANVAS 'TAOS PASTURES'

1: FRANK HOFFMAN (1888-1958) OIL ON CANVAS 'TAOS PASTURES'

Frank Hoffman's penchant for painting horses can be attributed to his childhood and his father's racing stables. He went West in 1916 and by 1920 had joined what would become known as the Taos art colony which set the stage for his career as a preeminent American illustrator, painter and sculptor. This work is signed lower right; the canvas measures 24 x 31, frame measures 31.5 x 38.5 inches. A paper gallery tag had the piece titled 'Taos Pastures'.
A fine example in excellent condition. There are no areas of repair, inpainting, touch-up or damage such as scratches of punctures. UV light examination confirms the original condition.
