38: A VOLUPTUOUS VERNIS MARTIN VITRINE WITH CARVED LADIES

The gold leaf display cabinet glazed with shaped glass having multiple bends and swells on both the sides and hinged front door with hand painted cartouche, the cabinet's top surmounted by an asymmetrical crest on the undulating form embellished with three-dimensional carved ladies heads at the top of either side, mirrored back interior and three glass shelves over the bombe base painted on each side and raised on short saber legs with foliate carvings circa 1900.
Measures 71.25 x 31 x 16 inches.
Very good original condition, original interior cloth covering, flaking paint, wear to the high points, discoloration and some loss to the original finish. There are no issues of damage or repair.
Provenance: The multi-generation collection of an early Kansas City family in the same home since 1962.
