94: A CONTINENTAL PEWTER MOUNTED OSTRICH EGG COVERED CUP

The cover with figural ostrich finial and a portion of the shell in pewter mount as cover for the remainder of the egg as a cup in frame with swags of garland joining two African female figures on either side, above three caryatid supports on standard joining the circular foot with bands of acanthus leaves, no markings found, 19th century.
Measures 21 x 7.5 inches.
The egg portion in the cover is cracked in a Y shape, the ostrich finial is askew as shown. There are no other issues of damage, repair or heavy wear.
Provenance: The multi-generation collection of an early Kansas City family in the same home since 1962.
