Fanny Garde (1855-1928)
(Circa 1915.)
The fine and rare work of unique design by Fanny Garde for Bing & Grøndahl incorporates Jugendstil influence decoration in high relief against contrasting motifs and an interior glaze of metallic appearance. Ms. Garde began her career as a designer with Bing & Grøndahl in 1886 and as one of the pioneering female porcelain decorators, she is credited with award-winning success in underglaze painting and design. Many of her creative output was mass produced while other, more Avant Garde, designs like this were of very limited production and some are regarded as unique.
