An ebony wood and brass octant with scrimmed ivory scale, brass index arm with etched ivory gradations, maker's plaque 'Crichton, London, made for Blakeney & Cameron, Glasgow.' Measures 13 x 11 inches, fine old mahogany case with DeMory Gray & W.D. Alder paper tag inside lid, case measures 13 x 13 x 4 inches.
