196: A 17-INCH METTLACH ETCHED AND JEWELED STEIN #1940

A fine large 3 liter stein with etched figure in front of a barrel with background of hops etc, signed C Wurth for decorator Christian Wurth (1820 - 1902), height 17 inches. Engraved dedication on the rim of the inlaid lid to a military company captain, H.T. Grieb, dated 1912. Incised Mettlach Abbey trademark, numbered 1940, along with US Patent and 'Made in Germany' to the base.
