228: A LATE 19TH C. CHINESE BRONZE CENSOR 44 INCHES

A bronze floor-standing vessel with cover, the bulbous body with reserve scene of figures on water buffalo crossing a bridge under blooming tree branches, figural dragon handles each side over a second covered vessel on tall legs headed by the faces of bats, the whole raised on a circular base centering a cast medallion of encircling dragons. Measures approximately 44.5 inches high, 14.5 inches at widest.
Very good original condition free from damage, wear or repair.
