602: AN ANCIENT GREEK TERRA COTTA WINE JUG AS FOUND

The Attic oinochoe, wine jug, dating to 430-420 B.C. with anthesteria festival figures is offered as found with major damage and repair as shown.
Measures 8 x 5.5 x 5.5 inches.
Major chipping at the rim, intact handle without damage or repair, no chips or repairs to the base rim, a teardrop shaped piece approximately 2.5 x 3.5 inches appears to have been broken out the side and replaced, or at the least cracked and stabilized (see photo of the interior), and there is a network of cracks radiating from that repaired area near the winged figure around the body away from the figures past the handle and down to the base, another crack extends from the winged figure across the face of the middle figure and down toward, but 3 inches short of, the base rim. There are no other areas of restoration professional or otherwise.
Known for two generations in a Wichita, Kansas estate. There is no other significant provenance available from the family consigning this lot.
