238: A NICE 19TH CENTURY ORMOLU CASKET WITH CHAMPLEVE'

A nice quality casket, Renaissance Revival style incorporating masks, scrolls and fruit clusters, the sides and ends mounted with champleve enamel plaques, the hinged lid mounted with a central champleve plaque and similar roundels at each corner. An interesting stamped mark on the underside of the base and a key that appears to be the original.
Measures 4.5 x 5.5 x 3.5 inches.
A small chip from the enameling of one end plaque, otherwise very good original condition, extremely minor wear to the high points of the gilding, no damage, repair or heavy wear,.
