77: AN EARLY 19TH C. NEW ENGLAND PAINTED BLANKET CHEST

The six board chest with rectangular lid framed in grooved molding over a square-nailed case on base with exuberant scroll-cut skirt and squared corner feet either side of the graceful end cut-outs, original wrought iron strap hinges in their original position, original iron lock and catch, original throughout and in excellent condition, the original paint in a pleasing original bluish-green hue.
Measures26 x 43 x 19 inches.
Very, very good condition free from damage, repair or wear except at the base of the feet, all original, no reinforcement or replacements, no hinge issues, excellent overall.
