A RARE AND EARLY C.W. PARKER ANIMATED IRON DEER TARGET

103: A RARE AND EARLY C.W. PARKER ANIMATED IRON DEER TARGET

The cast iron figure of a deer with clover shape trigger on spring-loaded shaft floating near the chest, and rare mechanism to create a rocking action while traveling on the gallery conveyor. A difficult 'bullseye' strike on the rocking figure would release and drop the head at the neck pivot point. This rare rocking target with mechanism intact is the only known example of its type. Signed in the casting back side. This is the only example the Tuckers have seen or heard of in their 30 years of collecting.

Pictured on page 36 of Sellers' book (Figure 2.15).
Measures 12 x 17 inches, excluding stand.
Very good condition, noting the effects of age and exposure as shown. There are no issues of damage or repair. The dry surface with remnant traces of old park paint is very good.
