310: AN EXCEPTIONAL CAUCASIAN SHIRVAN PRAYER RUG CIRCA 1870

The particularly fine example with crisp drawing of stylized florals presented in bold vegetal colors, the ivory mihrab with diagonal rows of polychrome plants within a serrated vine lattice linking cruciform medallions below a green diagonal bar serrated arch with ivory plant, vine and flowerhead spandrels, a red border enclosing continuous star flower heads linked to hooked vines, the yellow inner border enclosing diagonal polychrome square flower heads issuing hooked vines, wool on cotton with some silk wefts, circa 1870.
Measures 53 x 39 inches.
Very good condition. Clean and odor free with re-wrapped side selvedge, stabilized ends with minor loss to one, good even pile overall, no damage, repair or stain.
