The sperm whale tooth engraved with portrait medallion of a woman in 1830s evening attire enclosed within an oval sawtooth frame, bracketed by a border crosshatched with leaves above a lower border of pyramids and scallops, the back side etched with a Carolina Rose spray.
Measures 5.5 x 2 x 1.25 inches.
Very good original condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear.
Provenance: The multi-generation collection of an early Kansas City family in the same home since 1962.
